Main Article Content
Abstract
Currently, chronic diseases and mental and emotional disorders are the major health problems worldwide, and the modern lifestyle is the main risk factor. The call of the World Health Organization (WHO) to states is eloquent: to correct the inequalities and populations health problems attending to their social determinants. The holistic modernization and the adaptive capacity of health systems in favor of human well being are a challenge that concerns the medical sciences, social sciences and human disciplines in general. For this reason, today it seems unavoidable to go towards multidisciplinary integration and the understanding of health as a multidimensional and complex phenomenon, it means, towards a paradigm that contrasts with a biomedical model hitherto hegemonic whose limits have also been transformed into one of the main risk factors.
